Dr. Marilyn Tran graduated magna cum laude at Western New England University and received a bachelor’s in Health Science in a 3-year accelerated program. She then graduated in 2024 with her Doctorate in Optometry at the New England College of Optometry and received the Optelec Excellence in Low Vision Award. Most of her training has been with the low vision community, but she has a deep passion for serving diverse populations. Driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to exceptional eye care regardless of age, race, gender identity, socioeconomic or cultural background, Dr. Tran strives to create a welcoming and inclusive space. She is a proud ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and is committed to practicing with cultural humility and a deep respect for each individual’s lived experience.
Dr. Tran is a Connecticut native and received her training in several specialties throughout New England. She completed low vision training at Boston University Eye Associates, NECO Center for Eye Care, and the Carroll Center for the Blind. During a rotation at the West Haven Veterans Affairs Hospital, Dr. Tran focused on ocular disease and primary care. At Fenway Community Health and East Boston Neighborhood Community Health Center, she enhanced her skills on cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. She also had vision therapy and pediatrics training from the NECO Center for Eye Care.
Dr. Tran finds balance outside of the office by maintaining her physical and mental health, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. She is a lifelong learner and often finds herself picking up new hobbies.
